On 14 December 2021, Latvian Ambassador to Korea H.E. Mr. Āris Vīgants unveiled an exhibition by Latvian contemporary ceramic artist Elīna Titāne titled “Interaction” and an installation - “The Path of Symbiosis”. This event concluded a year-long program celebrating the 30th anniversary of Latvia-Korea diplomatic relations.

At the opening ceremony the audience was addressed by: the Ambassador Āris Vīgants, the Mayor of Jangsu County, Jang Yeong-su, and the Chairman of Jangsu Municipality, Kim Yong-mun.

Along with Elīna Titāne’s large-scale drawings and porcelain sculptures, the exhibition also features a special installation - “The Path of Symbiosis”, which has been created in cooperation with the Korean artist Choi Kyurak. Both Latvia and Korea being proud of their deeply rooted pottery traditions, the installation has been created using a local material from each country – clay, thus each artist representing their land both literary and symbolically. “The installation bears a multi-layered meaning – unity and harmony between the individual and the universal, between perception and attitude, communication and expression. Co-existence through a harmonious interaction – nature and humanity, the intuitive and the mental, the national and the universally human,” said Elīna Titāne describing the intallation.

The exhibition has been organised by the Embassy of Latvia to the Republic of Korea in association with the Jangsu Arts Museum and it is a part of the public diplomacy programme to mark Latvia’s Centenary, coordinated by the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The exposition will be open for viewing till 14 January 2022.
